There are certain movies you just can’t click past when they’re on TV. Some you’re not so proud of, others are classics. But no matter what, if you see them on TV, you stop and watch, even if you don’t have the time to sit and watch the same movie again for the 400th time. Chances are, said movies are replayed on TBS, TNT, IFC, or FX on a Saturday afternoon. You should be adulting or paying attention to your children, but instead, you’re deeply invested in a movie you already know every word to and probably isn’t really that great. But it doesn’t matter. You must. watch. now.
Here are the first three movies that popped into my head:
Twister:
Image may be NSFW.
Clik here to view.
Listen, I know Twister is not a great movie, but I am not ashamed of my love for this disaster of a disaster movie. It’s got natural disasters, Bill Paxton, Phillip Seymour Hoffman doing things like this:
The Great Outdoors:
40% on Rotten Tomatoes, 100% awesome. The Great Outdoors isn’t John Candy’s finest work. It’s definitely not Dan Aykroyd ‘s best. Right Dan?
Maverick:
I haven’t seen Maverick on tv lately, and I can’t find it streaming anywhere anymore, which is sad because it’s a great movie. Heck, it even gets a 67% on Rotten Tomatoes and a 71% audience score. That’s pretty darn high for my tastes, you guys. But Maverick has fantastic costumes and sets/locations, brilliant cast, and it’s just damn fun.
There are a dozen other movies I want to add to this list already (Overboard, I’m looking at you), but I’m trying to reign myself in (cough, Home Alone, cough.) I shouldn’t mention movies like The Hangover or pretty much anything by John Hughes, too, because then this list would never end. Especially if I started in with A League of Their Own and Remember the Titans. Pretty soon you’d start thinking this is how I live my life 24/7.
But I’ll stop now, because I want to know what movies YOU can’t click past. Leave a comment and let’s discuss!
